Job summary

Community College of Baltimore County is seeking a part-time grant-funded administrator to support the Center for Adult and Family Literacy. Responsibilities include coordinating ESOL IELCE/IET enrollment, scheduling, recruitment, and data reporting for various program activities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Implement IELCE/IET enrollment processes including recruitment, orientation, intake, and assessments for ESOL students.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate IELCE/IET classes in collaboration with workforce and technical training program areas.
  • Prepare, analyze and provide data and reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  • Ensure security of all testing materials and distribution of course paperwork to program staff and partners.
  • Assist in the process of recruiting, hiring and training adjunct faculty and staff.
  • Communicate with program staff and external partners regarding student referrals, course placement, progress, and employment needs.

Class Description

Perform professional level administrative duties assisting with the daily operations of the Continuing Education’s Center for Adult and Family Literacy. This is a part-time, grant position funded through the Consolidated Adult Education and Family Literacy Grant provided by Maryland’s Dept. of Labor.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience coordinating a functional process in an education setting. Experience working in Adult Literacy ESOL preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Implement ESOL Integrated English Language and Civics Education/Integrated Education and Training (IELCE/IET) workplace program’s managed enrollment process including recruitment, scheduling and management of orientation, intake, and assessments for ESOL students.
  2. Plan, schedule, and coordinate IELCE/IET classes in collaboration with workforce and technical training program areas.
  3. Prepare, analyze and provide data and reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  4. Ensure security of all testing materials and distribution of course paperwork to program staff and partners.
  5. Assist in the process of recruiting, hiring and training adjunct faculty and staff.
  6. Communicate with program staff and external partners regarding student referrals, course placement, progress, and employment needs.
  7. Work with program staff to design ESOL IELCE/IET workplace curriculum.
  8. Counsel and advise students regarding academic progress, assisting in the referral process of learners to support services and/or outside agencies when needed.
  9. Focus on retention, job development and career guidance in program areas with assigned placement.
  10. Support internal partners when running ESOL Workforce programming, as needed.

    • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/HumanResources Forms.
  • Parking Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
