Job summary

Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is seeking an administrative leader to oversee ABE/GED courses, coordinate staff, and ensure compliance with CCBC policies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with four years of experience in literacy instruction or administration, and prior supervisory experience is preferred. It includes liaison duties, program paperwork management, and collaboration with CCBC personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for ABE/GED staff and courses.
  • Provide administrative support for the implementation of college policies and grant paperwork and procedures.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and students during classes.
  • Observe and mentor instructional staff. Substitute in emergency situations.
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional developments to support departmental goals and initiatives. In collaboration with CCBC personnel, implement and oversee departmental goals each semester.
  • Coordinate services to help meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students, assisting during and after classes. Tutor students and direct small groups where needed.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with part-time instructional staff and CCBC personnel. Act as a liaison between ABE/GED administrators and part-time instructional staff.
  • Ensure that all program-related paperwork such as course attendance rosters, I-9s, course and instructor evaluations, and grant required paperwork are distributed, completed, and returned to CCBC in a timely manner.
  • Assist in resolving any teacher or student issues or problems, relay all issues of concerns to CCBC administrators and director.
  • Assist instructional staff in ensuring that the classroom space is clean, safe, and technology is functioning properly. Alert proper CCBC personnel of issues.
  • Ensure that assessment is conducted according to test administrator's requirements and grant requirements.

Class Description

Provides oversight of CCBC courses offered. Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Assist with providing leadership and direction for ABE/GEDstaff and courses.
