Job summary

Northern Kentucky University is seeking a Front of House Coordinator to manage box office operations and front-of-house services for School of the Arts events. This role supervises student staff and coordinates audience services to ensure smooth performances.

The position supports events at Greaves Concert Hall, Corbett Theatre and Stauss Theatre, requires evening/weekend hours, a ten-month academic calendar, and a 20-hour-per-week schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in theatre, business or accounting and one year of related work experience.
  • Equivalency: associate’s degree in theatre, business or accounting plus 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience supervising student employees and coordinating front-of-house operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage box office operations, including answering phones and emails, processing ticket sales, and assisting patrons
  • Supervise and train 4–8 work-study student employees, including scheduling and performance oversight.
  • Coordinate front-of-house operations for ticketed SOTA events, including usher management and patron services.
  • Maintain ticketing records, attendance data, and provide administrative support for events.
  • Report to the SOTA Events Manager and assist with process improvements and operational planning.

About the Role:

The Front of House Coordinator manages box office operations andfront-of-house services for ticketed School of the Arts (SOTA)events. This position ensures high-quality customer service,supervises student employees, and coordinates audience services tosupport successful performances and events.

The primary venues for fine arts events at NKU are the 650-seatGreaves Concert Hall, 315-seat Corbett Theatre and 120-seat StaussTheatre. Evening and weekend hours will be required in accordancewith the schedule of performances and other events as appropriate.This is a ten-month (academic fall and spring semester) part-time(20 hours per week) position.

  • Manage box office operations, including answering phones andemails, processing ticket sales, and assisting patrons

  • Coordinate front-of-house operations for ticketed SOTA events,including usher management and patron services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
  • Experience in supervision of employees (preferably studentemployees)
  • Experience with computerized ticketing software; NKU uses VBO(Virtual Box Office)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of software, especiallyWord, Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Impeccable customer service, time management, analytical andproblem-solving skills.
  • Understanding and support of the values and missions ofNorthern Kentucky University and the School of the Arts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in theatre, businessor accounting and one year of related work experience.
  • The acceptable equivalency would be an associate’s degree intheatre, business or accounting plus 2 years of related workexperience

Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs. This job involves setting upoutdoor signage before productions to assist patron access to thebuilding.
