Husson University is seeking a Cook I to assist with food preparation and service in a vibrant campus dining operation. You will help with meal production and ensuring proper serving quantities for large groups.

Qualifications

Example of Duties

• The overall purpose of this job is to assist in the basic foodpreparation and service of meals.
• Serve and maintain food quantities for large numbers ofpeople.
• Assist with general cleaning chores in the dining area andkitchen.
• Set up, break down and maintain independent serveries.
• Provide assistance with catered functions and retailoperations.
• Provide supervision of student employees, Cook 1's andDishwasher/Utility employees.
• Be well groomed and wear the proper issued uniform.
• Assist with stocking as requested.
• Assist with dishwashing as requested.
• Participate in training, as well as other departmental functionrequirements.
• Provide leadership in the absence of Executive Chef and/orExecutive Sous Chef.
• Other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2 years culinary experience preferred. Some supervisoryexperience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to operate and maintain production/kitchenequipment.
• Advanced knife skills.
• Ability to use the different cooking methods to producefood.
• Ability to use produce the 5 basic sauces.
• Be knowledgeable of special dietary requirements.
• Assist with menu development.
• Awareness of all aspects of the kitchen.
• Knowledge of proper/safe time and temperature for foodhandling.
• Must have good customer service skills.
• Ability to work well independently as well as within ateam.
• Serve-Safe Certified or the ability to become certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Lift and carry 50 pounds
• Occasionally push and pull equipment on wheels that weighs upto 150 pounds
