Job summary
Soap Creek Resources in Wyoming, MI is seeking a Controls Engineer II to own the full engineering lifecycle of custom automation and process control systems. The role spans inception through validation, programming, integration, debugging, and on-site commissioning; strong electrical design and software architecture skills are essential.
The position requires experience with NEC, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, AutoCAD Electrical, and robot programming basics; travel up to 15% domestically
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years designing, building and programming automation systems
- Experience with NEC/NFPA 79 and industry codes
- Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms required; others preferred
- AutoCAD Electrical competency
- Robot programming familiarity a plus
- Willing to travel up to 15% domestically/internationally
Responsibilities
- Design and implement control architectures using PLCs and HMI systems
- Integrate robotics, vision, VFDs, and servo applications
- Configure network interfaces (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet)
- Create electrical schematics, panels, and BOMs in AutoCAD Electrical
- Develop robot paths and offline programming
- Lead engineering standards and reusable code libraries
- Coordinate system integration, debugging, and commissioning
- Support on-site startup and client handover
- Perform safety assessments and ensure compliance
