Job summary

CLA, a nationwide firm with a strong CAAS practice, seeks a Controller with logistics industry experience to join our Client Accounting & Advisory Services team in Houston, TX. You will lead internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting, coordinating with clients and management to drive financial success.

You will manage cash planning, procurement, and investment activities, while monitoring KPIs and staff performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA preferred but not required.
• 7 years of relevant accounting/financial experience; logistics industry experience highly preferred.
• Aptitude for knowledge of accounting software and systems; QuickBooks experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Travel required: in-office with local and occasional non-local travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies and procedures for budgeting, cash/credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, procurements, and investment activities; prepare financial information.
• Prepare and direct financial statements, reports, forecasts, and regulatory reports.
• Evaluate needs for funds procurement and surplus investments; make recommendations.
• Monitor KPIs and financial staff performance; implement improvements.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and stakeholders; may host board presentations.
