Job summary

CLA in Minnesota seeks a Controller with logistics industry experience to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management and financial reporting for key client engagements.

You will develop internal controls, monitor KPIs, advise management on financial objectives, and coordinate with boards and bankers. Travel to client sites is expected; CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred but not required.
• 7 years of relevant accounting/financial experience; logistics industry experience highly preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software; QuickBooks experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Travel: in-office with local travel to client sites and occasional non-local travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization; prepare financial information.
• Prepare and direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.
