Job summary

TrendAI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to evolve the Control Plane of the Threat Protection System. You will own features end to end, mentor engineers, and lead architecture discussions across multi-team interfaces on TPS appliances.

The role focuses on modern C++ on Linux, extending CLI, REST API, and the on-device React UI, with emphasis on secure, scalable, and maintainable services. Hybrid in-office in Austin, TX three days per week.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production systems in C++ on Linux (C++17 or later).
• Experience with REST APIs, service protocols, and versioning.
• Familiarity with Python for tooling and testing.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and code reviews.
• Clear communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure services across the Control Plane in modern C++.
• Extend configuration management and high-level policy compilation to low-level forms.
• Develop REST API surfaces and a React-based UI on-device.
• Define inter-process communication between Control Plane and data plane.
• Shape programmatic API surface and ensure backward compatibility.
• Contribute to design for high availability, failover, and upgrades.
• Improve device manageability, telemetry, health, and certificates.
• Author automated tests and maintain coding standards.
• Debug complex issues using core dumps, GDB, and packet captures.
• Investigate complex production issues with domain-specific context.
• Shape AI-augmented development workflow and validation gates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship TPS features.
