Job summary

Thales Austin is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to assure high availability and performance for a telecom cloud solution in a hybrid environment (3 days on site per week). You will implement IaC with Terraform/Ansible/Kubernetes, design CI/CD with GitLab, monitor with Datadog, and lead postmortems to continually improve system reliability and security alongside Cloud Security teams.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, Java development skills, and familiarity with public clouds

Qualifications

• Engineer or equivalent.
• at least 5 years of experience.
• Java development skill is required.
• Familiar with Public Cloud (GCP, AWS), containers and microservices (Docker, Kubernetes, Java), CI/CD and automation (Jenkins, Gitlab, Helm), NoSQL database.
• GCP cloud architect certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
• Develop automated CI/CD pipelines via GitLab to reduce manual toil.
• Availability & Reliability Engineering: define and monitor SLOs/SLIs and manage error budgets.
• Incident Management & On-Call Support: participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and troubleshoot production issues.
• Performance & Capacity Planning: analyze performance and plan capacity to handle growth and peak loads.
• Observability & Monitoring: implement comprehensive monitoring with Datadog for system health visibility.
• Continuous Improvement & Postmortems: lead blameless postmortems and implement long-term fixes.
• Security & Compliance Collaboration: work with Cloud Security teams on security best practices and access controls.
• Engage with stakeholders to define solution improvement plans and own service availability
