Job summary

TrendAI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architectural evolution of our on‑premises network security management appliance and its bridge to our cloud microservices platform. You will work on a mature Java codebase (WildFly) with MariaDB/ColumnStore, driving modernization while ensuring uptime and backward compatibility.

You will deliver modern web management surfaces with React/TypeScript and expand into cloud microservices in Go/Node.js on AWS.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade production software.
• Deep expertise in Java and the JVM in large, multi-threaded, high-concurrency codebases.
• Solid experience with enterprise Java architectures (WildFly, Java EE/Jakarta EE).
• Strong relational/analytical DB skills (MariaDB, MySQL, ColumnStore, PostgreSQL).
• Proven full-stack capabilities: React/TypeScript with RESTful APIs.
• Experience with RESTful and SOAP services and backward compatibility.
• Track record of refactoring large mature codebases without breaking backward compatibility.
• Linux systems programming and networking fundamentals.
• Experience integrating AI tools into software development workflows.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills for distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture and engineering across the on-premises management appliance and its cloud bridge.
• Modernize and modularize the legacy monolith, defining clean interfaces.
• Own data tier architecture, performance, and migrations across stores.
• Deliver full-stack capabilities pairing backend APIs with React/TypeScript UIs.
• Design and evolve high-performance RESTful APIs and SOAP services.
• Architect cloud microservices (Go/Node.js) on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, AWS IoT).
• Investigate and resolve distributed system issues, performance bottlenecks, and leaks.
• Champion AI-augmented engineering practices and guardrails.
• Architect resilience, HA, failover, and disaster recovery for fleet subsystems.
• Author automated tests across JVM, Go, and browser workflows (Playwright).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align roadmaps and interfaces.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and RFCs.
