Job summary

Addison Group in Manassas is seeking a Staff Accountant for a 3–4 month contract. The role is hybrid with four days onsite and Fridays remote, offering 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, and compensation of $25–$26/hour.

You will support monthly close, reconciliations, and AR tasks in a dynamic accounting team. Required is a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business and 2+ years of accounting experience, plus strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong account reconciliation experience.
• Experience preparing journal entries and month-end close.
• Accounts receivable experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with the accounting team.
• Comfortable learning new accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries accurately and in accordance with accounting requirements.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
• Perform regular accounts receivable reconciliations.
• Identify and communicate account discrepancies and support timely resolution.
• Assist with month-end financial close activities.
• Prepare accounts receivable reports for internal and external use.
• Support collections efforts by preparing aging and outstanding balance information.
• Analyze movements within accounts receivable aging categories.
• Manage assigned accounting responsibilities in a deadline-focused environment.
• Identify exceptions in daily processing and help develop procedures to resolve recurring issues.
• Support ongoing improvements to accounting processes.
• Learn and utilize internal financial systems, including platforms supporting policy and claims activity.
• Partner with accounting team members to support broader financial operations.
