Job summary

Kiewit offers a hands-on Safety Internship focused on learning the programs, regulations and guidelines that keep workers safe on North American projects. You will support teams in the field, learn how safety policies are developed and enforced, and gain exposure to audits and training activities.

As an intern, you will be assigned to project or office sites for the duration of the internship, with opportunities to relocate as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program including development of site safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with government regulations, client and company policies.
• Establish and monitor safe working conditions and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Assist in safety program audits, coaching and regular onsite training.
• Must be able to travel and relocate as required for projects.
• Carry out duties in varying work environments including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain.
