Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA, the U.S. arm of a global food retailer, seeks a Project Manager I to lead store development projects in the Lincolnton, NC area, from pre-construction through closeout.

The role oversees bidding, contracts, cost control, and coordination with Food Lion and landlords, with travel required (80%) and a mix of onsite and remote work.

Eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have 5–7 years in construction plus strong leadership and communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in construction industry.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel weekly.

Responsibilities

• Manage bidding/awarding with GC/CM and suppliers for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Prepare bid documents and RFQ packages to minimize project costs.
• Oversee contracts, purchase orders, processing and payment of requisitions.
• Manage Change Authorization/Change Order processes for Food Lion-contracted work.
• Coordinate bid/contract/requisition approvals for projects.
• Review ARCH/MEP redlines for compliance and standards.
• Provide value engineering feedback to Engineering on projects.
• Develop and implement cost-saving ideas to save time and money.
• Plan store projects with detailed schedules and milestones, monitor progress.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Real Estate, Operations and other stakeholders.
• Oversee construction activities to meet timelines and standards.
• Monitor contractor performance and escalate issues as needed.
• Prepare budgets, track costs, and update reports for senior management.
• Lead weekly project meetings with GCs/CMs and vendors.
• Inspect progress for quality and compliance with plans.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance on all sites.
• Drive risk mitigation and corrective actions to protect scope and schedule.
• Manage multiple projects across a geographic area.
