Abbott Construction is seeking a capable project engineer to support commercial construction efforts in Washington. The role involves assisting in estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports, organizing pre-construction planning meetings, and negotiating subcontracts with vendors and subcontractors.

The position requires a civil engineering or construction management background, excellent communication, and ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of two or more years of commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills by expressing ideas clearly and effectively and has strong negotiation skills.
• Understands construction laws and practices; applies building codes and other design requirements correctly and reads blueprints correctly.
• Professional affiliations preferred and credentials (e.g. PE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in accurate preparation of project estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports.
• Organize and conduct pre-construction planning meetings.
• Participate in successful negotiation of project subcontracts.
• Contribute to project management planning and scheduling.
