Job summary

Rexford Industrial Realty, Inc. in California is seeking an Assistant Project Accountant to support financial administration of construction projects from the owner's side.

You will help with cost codes, budgets, invoices, change orders, monthly reporting, and project closeout under the Development & Construction team. The role requires in-office presence at least two days per week and site visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Business, or equivalent.
• 1-3 years in accounting, accounts payable, or construction administration.
• Foundational knowledge of job cost accounting, pay apps, change orders, lien waivers.
• Proficiency with Excel; experience with Yardi preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain project cost codes, budgets, commitments, and financial records.
• Enter budgets, contracts, work orders, change orders; ensure documentation is complete.
• Review invoices and pay applications for coding, approvals, and contract alignment.
• Maintain logs for contracts, commitments, changes, invoices, and payments.
• Track budgets, actual costs, committed costs, and forecast spend; analyze variances.
• Support CIP reporting by compiling activity and reconciling schedules.
• Assist with budget revisions and supporting documentation for soft costs.
• Prepare internal check requests and reconcile project-related expenses.
• Reconcile transactions with AP and accounting; resolve coding issues.
• Support forecasting, cash flow updates, and cost-to-complete schedules.
• Organize electronic project files and audit documentation.
• Assist with closeout activities, inclusively accruals and retention tracking.
