Job summary

Rexford Industrial Realty, Inc. seeks an Assistant Project Accountant to support construction and development project finances from the owner’s side. The role handles cost codes, budgets, pay apps, change orders, CIP reporting, and closeout under the Development & Construction team’s guidance.

The position requires 1–3 years in project-based accounting, strong Excel and Yardi familiarity, and a detail‑oriented, collaborative mindset. Hybrid with in-office requirements and regular site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of accounting, accounts payable, construction administration, or project-based financial support.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles and interest in job cost accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Yardi preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative across functions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain project cost codes, budgets, commitments, and financial records in Yardi.
• Enter and update budgets, contracts, work orders, change orders with complete documentation.
• Review vendor invoices and pay applications for coding and approvals.
• Maintain logs for contracts, commitments, changes, invoices, and payments.
• Track budgets, actuals, committed costs, and forecast spend; analyze variances.
• Support CIP reporting by compiling activity and reconciling schedules.
• Assist with budget requests and revisions with supporting docs.
• Prepare internal check requests and reconcile project-related expenses.
• Coordinate with AP and project teams to resolve issues.
• Support forecasting, cash flow updates, and cost-to-complete schedules.
• Organize electronic project files and audit-support documentation.
• Assist with project closeout activities and archive preparation.
• Follow project accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Provide cross-functional support and additional duties as assigned.
