Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tennessee is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment. You will work from a company truck, serve customers at jobsites and service shops, and travel regionally.

The role requires hands-on diagnostics, strong safety and quality focus, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers. A valid driver’s license and a high school diploma are required; extensive CAT training is provided.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience with equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting.
• High school diploma required; technical training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a DOT medical card; willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret service manuals and safety procedures.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and high-quality repairs on Caterpillar equipment and related systems.
• Travel within assigned region; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Communicate with customers to provide exceptional service and maintain positive relationships.
