Job summary

Granite Construction Company is seeking an entry-level estimator support intern in California to assist engineers with takeoffs and documentation. You will help prepare drawings, sketches, material calculations, and support bidding and project schedules.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and pursuing a bachelor’s degree, with 0–2 years of related experience. Proficiency with MS Office and basic trig are expected, and a valid driver’s license is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED and be working towards a bachelor's degree.
• Field of Study preferred: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 0–2 years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design/drawings for takeoff and workforce for bidding and building construction projects.
• Prepare and distribute documentation such as status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations to supervisor.
• Provide technical support regarding project materials meeting specifications, delivery dates and schedules.
• Assist with change orders and estimates by preparing drawings/sketches to support estimating and construction work.
• Develop job data including quantity take-offs and material pricing for accurate estimates and bids.
• Maintain accurate records of quantities for work performed and materials installed for cost controls.
