Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP seeks a Conflicts Attorney to join the Office of Legal Affairs. You will identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest in new engagements and hires, and support the preparation and review of ethical screens, waivers, and related disclosures.

The ideal candidate has a JD with 3+ years in a law firm, strong ethics, excellent communication, and proficiency with conflicts software such as Intapp and Aderant.

Qualifications

• JD degree and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm; active bar license in good standing strongly preferred.
• At least three years of experience conducting electronic research, with familiarity with Intapp conflicts and client intake software preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, and conflicts-related programs; prior experience with Aderant a plus.
• Working knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and experience with legal ethics and conflicts issues in a law firm environment.
• Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to discuss conflicts and ethics diplomatically.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze electronic information regarding new engagements and new hires to identify, report, and address potential conflict of interest issues.
• Conduct electronic research using Westlaw, Google, and other tools to identify, clarify, and resolve conflict and ethics related issues.
• Prepare, review and/or analyze engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, ethics disclosures, waivers, ethical screens, and disengagement letters.
• Analyze work of others in the Office of Legal Affairs and provide necessary guidance related to conflict of interest and ethics issues.
• Communicate extensively with firm attorneys, business professionals, and General Counsel to facilitate resolution of conflicts.
• Assist in development of training programs for staff regarding conflicts and client intake procedures.
• Close client and/or matter accounts according to firm policy.
