Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join the Office of Legal Affairs. You will identify and resolve conflicts of interest for new engagements and hires, and prepare relevant ethics disclosures, waivers, and engagement letters.

You will work with firm attorneys and business professionals across the firm, providing guidance on conflicts and ethics issues, and help train staff on related processes. The role allows collaboration across multiple offices and jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• JD degree and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm; active bar license in good standing strongly preferred.
• At least three years of experience conducting electronic research, with familiarity with Intapp conflicts and client intake software preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, and conflicts-related programs; prior experience with Aderant a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze electronic information regarding new engagements and new hires to identify, report, and address potential conflict of interest issues.
• Conduct electronic research using Westlaw, Google, and other research tools to identify, eliminate, clarify, and resolve conflict and ethics related issues.
• Prepare, review and/or analyze engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, ethics related disclosures, waivers, ethical screens, and disengagement letters.
• Communicate extensively with firm attorneys, business professionals, General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel – Conflicts to facilitate identification and resolution of conflict issues.
• Assist in development of training and education programs for legal and non‑legal staff regarding conflict of interest issues, client intake systems, methods, and procedures.
