Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP is a national law firm seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join the Office of Legal Affairs. The role focuses on identifying, analyzing, and resolving conflicts of interest in new engagements and hires, and on advising on ethics matters and related disclosures.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical judgment and excellent communication skills to handle sensitive matters with diplomacy. The position may be based in multiple states including Tennessee; the preferred schedules

Qualifications

• JD degree earned from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar admission preferred.
• Experience in a law firm handling conflicts of interest and ethics matters is required or strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with conflicts and client intake software (Intapp, etc.) is desired.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with diplomacy in sensitive matters.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze engagements and hires to identify potential conflicts of interest.
• Conduct electronic research using Westlaw, Google, and other tools to resolve conflicts.
• Provide guidance on ethics matters and prepare/ review ethical screens and waivers.
• Draft engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, and ethics disclosures.
• Guide others in the Office of Legal Affairs on conflict of interest issues.
• Communicate with attorneys and business professionals to resolve conflicts efficiently.
• Assist in training staff on conflict of interest policies and procedures.
• Close client and matter accounts according to firm policy.
