Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking a part-time (adjunct) Computer Science instructor to teach face-to-face courses at the downtown Dayton campus, Courseview campus in Mason, and Centerville campus. Starting pay is $1,016 per credit hour assigned to teach, with positions restricted to residents of OH/IN/KY or those able to work within these states.

Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an associate’s degree with five years of professional experience, and

  • Skills in computer programming with a variety of languages, database design and development, and application development.
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach in a student-centered active learning model.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work in a culturally diverse college community.
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
  • Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs.
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Position Summary

The SinclairComputer Science Department is currently seeking apart-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face for day, evening,and weekend courses at our downtown Dayton campus, Courseviewcampus in Mason, Ohio and Centerville campus.

The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,016 per credit hourassigned to teach.

This position is open only to applicants who residein Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform workwithin one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, andbenefits compliance requirements.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science is required,OR an associate’s degree in the content, and five yearsprofessional experience as a software programmer, databasedeveloper or related field
  • Skills in computer programming with a variety of languages,database design and development, and application developmentrequired
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level, including ability to teach in a student-centeredactive learning model required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and thecapacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse collegecommunity required
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction
