Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH is seeking part-time adjunct faculty in the Communication department to teach face-to-face day courses at the downtown campus, Learning Centers, and CCP high schools. The starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

This position is open to Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky residents or those able to work in one of these states. Applicants must hold a Master’s in communication or have completed 18 graduate credit hours in communication.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in communication is required.
  • If master's is in another field, at least 18 graduate credit hours in communication.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to use modern educational technology.

Responsibilities

  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs.
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Position Summary

SinclairCommunication Department provides a comprehensive study ofcommunication and exposes students to the basics as well as toadvanced techniques, tools, and philosophies that will equip themwith the necessary skills they need to transmit information moreeffectively in various environments.

Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty forface-to-face day courses at our downtown Dayton campus, LearningCenters, and CCP high schools. Principal Accountabilities

Requirements
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in communication required.
    • Applicants whose master’s degree is in another discipline musthave completed at least 18 semester credit hours of graduatecoursework in communication
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience ispreferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction
