Job summary

Sinclair Community College seeks part-time adjunct faculty for the Automation & Control Technology with Robotics program at its Dayton and Mason campuses, with an immediate start date. Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour taught. Open to residents of OH/IN/KY or those who can work in one of these states.

Responsibilities include teaching, syllabus preparation, and using instructional technology to enhance learning, with a cap of 12 credit hours per semester.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronics engineering or related field is required.
  • Five years of experience in a field related to the course to be taught and an active journeyman’s card are required.
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies.
  • Ability to teach courses in robotics and/or controls is preferred.
  • Industry experience is preferred.

  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for assigned sections in accordance with policies.
  • Employ teaching and learning strategies and use instructional technology.
  • Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
  • Evaluate and return student work promptly to promote learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Submit final grade rosters by deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester.

Position Summary

Automation& Control Technology with Robotics program focuses oninstallation and troubleshooting of electrical and electronicsystems, industrial programming for control applications, andstate-of-the-art mechanical and robotic systems installation,modification and repair.

Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty toteach face-to-face courses at our main campus in Dayton, Ohio andour Courseview Campus in Mason, Ohio with an immediate start date. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hourassigned to teach. For the full list of available courses to teach,please explore our coursecatalog .

This position is open only to applicants who residein Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform workwithin one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, andbenefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by thedepartment
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning

  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering,electronics engineering technology, a related area, OR must meetthe specific requirements associated with Tested Experience.
  • Tested Experience Requirements:
    • Minimum of a high school diploma required AND
    • Five years of experience in a field specifically related to thecourse to be taught AND
    • Active journeyman’s card
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills withthe capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse collegecommunity
  • Ability to teach courses in robotics and/or controls ispreferred
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology,including multimedia-based instruction
  • Industry experience is preferred
