Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face daytime, evening, and weekend courses at our Dayton campus. Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach, with the course catalog listing available options.

Open to residents of OH, IN, or KY or those able to work in one of these states; SCC restricts part-time employment to compliant states for tax and benefits reasons. Benefits include tuition waiver and STRS pension participation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in history with 18 graduate credits in history required.

The SinclairHistory Department is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face for day, evening, and weekend coursesat our main campus in Dayton, Ohio. This position is open only to applicants who residein Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky or who are able to perform workwithin one of these states. Sinclair Community College restrictspart-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by thedepartment
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize studentlearning
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections inaccordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, useavailable instructional technology when appropriate
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategiesto meet diverse student’s needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote studentsuccess
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promotelearning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to establisheddeadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than themaximum of 12 credit hours per semester
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of a master’s degree in history or a master’s degreewith at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework inhistory required
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience ispreferred
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning throughinnovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with theability to work successfully in a community collegeenvironment
• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educationaltechnology, including multimedia-based instruction
