Dow Jones is seeking a Compensation Operations Specialist in New York City to lead compensation processes, improve data accuracy, and drive scalable HR operations. You will partner with HRIS, Payroll, Finance, and People teams to ensure accurate execution and robust controls across compensation programs.

The role emphasizes automation, cross-functional collaboration, and project leadership to evolve our compensation function while delivering a superior employee experience.

Qualifications

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in compensation, HR operations, or a closely related generalist role within an enterprise environment.
  • Proven track record of managing compensation routines, auditing HR data, and identifying workflow automations.
  • Strong project management capabilities with experience leading major HR programs from planning through execution.
  • Direct or indirect leadership experience guiding junior team members or operational coordinators.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS platforms (ideally Workday).
  • Undergraduate degree in HR, Business Admin, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead compensation operations and cross-functional processes across HR systems.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline compensation processes and automate workflows.
  • Problem-solve to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Rethink design and delivery of compensation processes using technology and collaboration.
  • Project manage compensation initiatives and annual cycles with stakeholders.
  • Partner with HRIS to optimize Workday and related systems.
  • Develop and maintain compensation processes, controls, and SOPs.
  • Build reporting and tracking for visibility into compensation activity and metrics.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, Finance, and HR to resolve issues and improve end-to-end processes.
  • Support annual salary planning, incentives, promotions, and market adjustments.
  • Explore AI and emerging tech to simplify processes and improve experience.
  • Supervise and mentor a Compensation Coordinator.
