Job summary

Dow Jones in New York City is seeking a Compensation Operations Specialist to advance our compensation function. You will lead operations across HR systems, drive automation, and partner with Finance, Payroll, and HR Partners to deliver accurate, scalable processes.

You will mentor a Compensation Coordinator, manage annual salary planning and incentives, and leverage AI to optimize workflows for better data quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of experience in compensation, HR operations, or related generalist role in a large enterprise.
• Proven track record of managing compensation routines, auditing HR data, and identifying automation opportunities.
• Strong project management capabilities with experience leading major HR programs from planning through execution.
• Direct or indirect leadership experience guiding junior team members or coordinators.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS platforms (Workday or similar).
• Undergraduate degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead compensation operations and cross-functional processes with accurate data and strong controls across HR systems.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate compensation processes and reduce manual work.
• Apply creative problem-solving to optimize complex operational challenges for efficiency and scalability.
• Leverage technology and cross-functional collaboration to address recurring business needs in compensation.
• Project manage key compensation initiatives and annual cycles with stakeholder alignment and testing.
• Partner with HRIS to optimize Workday and related systems for enhancements and automation.
• Develop and maintain compensation processes, documentation, controls, and operating procedures.
• Build and maintain reporting showing compensation activity, workload, data quality, and metrics.
• Collaborate with Compensation, HRBPs, Payroll, Finance, and People Ops to resolve issues and improve end-to-end processes.
• Explore AI and emerging tech to simplify processes and improve user experience.
• Supervise and mentor one Compensation Coordinator.
