Job summary

Animal Hospital of Dunedin is seeking a skilled veterinary receptionist to be the primary contact for clients and their pets. The role blends administrative precision with compassionate client interaction in a clinical setting.

Qualified candidates will have at least 1 year of front desk experience, familiarity with veterinary terminology, and proficiency in scheduling, billing, and EMR software. The position offers a supportive team environment and standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year veterinary receptionist experience.
• Experience with practice management software.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and basic medical procedures.
• Proficiency in scheduling, billing and patient records.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in clients and patients, verify and update medical records, and confirm appointment details.
• Answer and manage a multi-line phone system, assisting with scheduling, prescriptions, vaccination records, and hospital information.
• Process payments, post charges, explain invoices, and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Communicate medical information, diagnoses, and care instructions accurately and with empathy, including end-of-life discussions.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure timely data entry in the PMIS/EMR system.
• Coordinate with veterinarians, technicians, and staff to relay messages and maintain patient flow.
• Keep reception area and waiting room clean and welcoming.
