Encompass Health is seeking a PRN Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit, ensuring seamless patient care with clerical excellence. You will coordinate unit operations, manage medical records, and assist patients, families, and staff.

This role emphasizes accuracy, communication, and timely scheduling within a community-focused hospital setting. Typically scheduled on an as-needed basis, the unit secretary contributes to a compassionate, efficient care environment and supports safe patient

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
• Experience reading and transcribing medical orders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
