Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate via NAACLS or approved program with internship (100 venipunctures).
• In lieu of internship, 6 months of phlebotomy experience may be considered.
• In lieu of certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs functions to ensure proper collection and documentation of patient specimens.
• Register patients and verify identity, demographics, test orders and medical necessity.
• Manage ABN forms, codes, signatures, documentation and scanning.
• Perform clerical tasks: file records, answer phones, report delivery and intake.
• Maintain standing orders for expiration and renewals and ensure completion.
• Provide patient with test forms and prep instructions.
• Schedule venipunctures and label/transport specimens per procedures.
• Verify patient identity before venipuncture and monitor for adverse reactions.
• May collect other specimens and process samples (centrifuging, tracking).
