Job summary

Brown University Health in Providence, RI, seeks a Phlebotomist to obtain blood and other specimens for routine and specialized tests on pediatric and adult patients, including outpatients.

Under supervision, you will register patients, prepare specimens, and ensure proper labeling, transport, and documentation, while adhering to universal precautions. The role supports family-centered care and aligns with our values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate through NAACLS or related program with internship and 100 venipunctures.
• Alternative: 6 months phlebotomy internship may be considered.
• Alternative: 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens from pediatric and adult patients.
• Register patients, verify identity, enter demographics and test orders.
• Manage ABN and document scanning per policy.
• Label, wrap, transport specimens and maintain records.
• Follow universal precautions and hospital procedures.
