Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection across patient ages in a Newport, RI setting. Responsibilities include patient greeting, labeling specimens, entering orders, and assisting in the lab workflow.

The role requires a phlebotomy certificate or equivalent experience, strong customer service, and strict adherence to safety and infection-control procedures. Day shifts, with potential weekend rotation, on-site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certificate with internship showing 100 successful venipunctures.
• In lieu of internship, 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• In lieu of certification, 5+ years direct phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to perform venipuncture on adults, children and infants.
• Excellent interpersonal and clerical skills for patient interaction and record keeping.
• Experience with blood collection equipment and proper precautions.
