Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Phlebotomist to collect blood and other specimens from pediatric and adult patients on outpatient units in Providence, RI. You will obtain samples, transport them, and complete basic records under the supervision of the Manager Laboratory Outreach Services.

You will verify patient identity, prepare specimens for tests, and coordinate with nursing staff to ensure safe, accurate collections while following universal precautions and Brown University Health's mission

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Phlebotomy certificate or equivalent internship with 100 successful venipunctures.
• Experience or ability to perform venipuncture on adults, children, and infants.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture following proper techniques.
• Register patients and verify identity and demographics for test orders.
• Prepare, label and transport specimens per protocol and ensure proper documentation.
• Maintain records and assist with instructions to patients regarding test preparation.
