Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department Day Shift (35 hours) to assist nurses with patient care, ensure safety, and support unit operations. The role emphasizes compassionate care, infection control, and teamwork in a high-paced setting.

You will help with phlebotomy and ECG tasks, maintain equipment and supplies, and participate in patient transfers and discharge processes, while upholding NYU Langone Core Values.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience.
• CNA graduate with EKG & Phlebotomy coursework and PCT certification eligibility with 6 months hospital experience.
• PCT Certification through NHA with at least 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS/Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required on entry.
• Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.
• Senior Nursing Attendant qualifications: HS diploma; CNA with at least 6 months experience; CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks with safety and compassion.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and environment; ensure patient privacy and dignity.
• Support data collection for quality improvement and patient satisfaction metrics.
• Assist in admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures; respond to call lights promptly.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care team members.
• Participate in unit meetings, orientation, and mandatory education.
