Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department Day Shift (35 Hours). The role assists the professional nurse, supports the unit, and ensures patient care with emphasis on safety, confidentiality, and compassionate service.

You will participate in data collection for quality programs and assist in education and unit meetings. Minimum qualifications include a PCT program (or CNA with EKG/Phlebotomy coursework) and BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience or CNA graduate with EKG & Phlebotomy coursework and PCT certification eligible or PCT Certification through NHA with 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by the AHA) is required on entry to the position.
• Must complete PCT online program within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional nurse in patient care and family support.
• Demonstrates NYU Langone Health Core Values.
• Supports unit operations including supplies, equipment, and environment safety.
• Assists in data collection for Quality and Performance Improvement.
• Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
• Completes annual mandatory education for PCTs.
• Communicates with patients, families, and staff with respect and clarity.
• Assists with phlebotomy, fingersticks for glucose, and ECGs as assigned.
