Job summary

NYU Langone Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department night shift (35 hours per week). The role involves assisting nurses in patient care, ensuring safety, and supporting unit operations in a high-acuity environment.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, PCT program completion or CNA with EKG & Phlebotomy training, and BLS/CPR certification. Prior hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience OR CNA graduate with EKG & Phlebotomy course and PCT certification eligible plus 6 months hospital experience.
• BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required on entry to position.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional nurse in patient and family care.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and the unit environment with safety.
• Participates in unit meetings, orientation, and mandatory education as required.
• Assists with data collection for Quality and Performance Improvement programs.
• Communicates with patients, families, and health care team clearly and respectfully.
• Supports admission, transfer, and discharge procedures and unit activities.
• Provides assistance to patients with activities and transport as needed.
