Job summary

AHMC Healthcare Inc. is seeking a transporter responsible for moving patients between nursing units and ancillary departments, collecting orders, and distributing medications and test results as per hospital policies.

The role involves hourly transport rounds, cross-training for duties, and collaboration with the nursing administration to ensure patient safety and confidentiality under HIPAA.

Qualifications

• A minimum of six (6) months acute hospital experience preferred.
• A current CPR card (must be from AHA) is required or must be completed by the end of orientation.
• Proficiency in both written and oral communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report changes in patient behavioral and physical conditions to appropriate care team members promptly.
• Assist nursing units in evaluating and determining patient readiness prior to transport.
• Coordinate additional assistance for patient transport when clinically indicated (e.g., patients with multiple IV lines).
• Safely transport patients to designated locations according to facility policies, maintaining appropriate speed, privacy, and comfort.
• Verify patient identification prior to initiating transport and implement care plans established by the healthcare team.
• Ensure proper attachment and positioning of medical equipment and apparatus (e.g., IV lines, Foley bags) prior to and during movement.
