Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Able to assess equipment safety and determine routes within the hospital.
• Must be able to walk up to 95% of the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds with assist and use patient handling equipment when needed.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed and position them safely.
• Transport items and equipment as needed.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to clinical staff.
• Verify patient identification and document rides.
• Use electronic systems to track transport status.
• Disinfect and maintain transport equipment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• May collect equipment or deliver medications (not controlled substances).
