Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin seeks an experienced patient access professional to support registration, admissions, and insurance verification with EPIC proficiency and excellent patient service. This is a full-time, 2nd shift role involving high-volume interactions, coordinating with patients, families, and clinical teams to ensure accurate and timely information.

Candidates should have strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1–2 years customer service experience preferred
• Knowledge of third-party payors preferred
• Medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, and customers; maintain calm, compassionate demeanor in fast-paced settings.
• Verify patient information, insurance, and demographics with EPIC; ensure accuracy and privacy.
• Admit and register patients for ER and outpatient visits; coordinate with clinical staff.
• Collect co-pays and self-pay payments; assist with billing and pre-admission tasks.
• Assist with patient transport, escort, and wayfinding as needed.
• Support ED/triage staff by providing timely patient information and updates.
