Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care and patient comfort in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist with meals, hydration, mobility, bathing, and linen changes, while helping the RN monitor vital signs and patient status.

The role requires compassion, a patient-focused bedside manner, and the ability to work under pressure with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration with interruptions and variable noise levels.
• Ability to set priorities and manage a high workload within time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meals, encourage walking, assist with baths, and supply clean linens and gowns.
• Assist bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities promptly.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms, staying within arm's reach during movement.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
