Job summary

Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nurses by sanitizing rooms, monitoring patients’ vital signs, and assisting with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

You will provide essential patient care, report changes to the nurse, deliver courteous service to patients and families, document care accurately, and assist with mobility and transfers using safe techniques.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health, or long-term care.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain before direct patient care.
• Completion of nursing aide training or STNA/CNA/certifications or nursing program with clinical rotations.
• EPIC EHR training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assist with mobility.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provide high-level customer service to patients, family, visitors and employees.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information at arrival and departure.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilize patients using safe techniques to foster independence.
• Encourage patients to participate in tasks as much as possible.
