Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for St. Charles Hospital to support patient care under RN guidance. The role involves sanitizing rooms, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

Core duties include assisting with mobility, documenting care, and serving as a liaison between patients and nurses. The ideal candidate will have prior acute care experience or nursing aide training and valid BLS certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Basic patient care knowledge and assist with nursing tasks.
• Experience in acute care or long-term care is preferred.
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program or equivalent is required/ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, mobility, personal care and hygiene.
• Reports changes or concerns to nurse or designated healthcare professional.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the system.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information at shift changes.
• Assists with patient transfer using safe techniques when competency is validated.
• Encourages independence and tailors care to patient interests and needs.
