Job summary

Westchester Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will prepare patients for treatment, observe conditions, record vital signs, and assist with daily living activities, including meals and hygiene.

Responsibilities include documenting results in the EMR, aiding in admissions and discharges, and ensuring patient safety with timely hand-offs and routine observations.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of patient care experience, or completion of a Patients Care Technician program, or completion of an in-service program as determined by nursing leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care per individualized care plans and under RN supervision.
• Take vital signs and weights; collect specimens; document results in the EMR.
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge and prepare patients for procedures.
• Transport patients to tests or therapies; respond to intercom requests and coordinate with the treatment team.
• Assist with meals, hygiene, grooming, ambulation, and activities of daily living as directed by the nurse.
• Maintain accurate intake/output documentation; monitor patient safety and comfort.
• Participate in classes, in-service programs, and unit meetings.
