Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Patient Care Technician to work under the supervision of a registered nurse within our interdisciplinary team. You will provide direct and indirect care to a diverse patient population, supporting comfort, safety and satisfaction as part of ongoing care from admission to discharge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of CNA/MA/PCT or Fundamentals of Nursing program or equivalent.
• HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program or equivalent medical background acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients and checks for proper identification bracelets.
• Prepares the patient for assessment/admission, physical examination and procedures.
• Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Obtains clinical data, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, O2 saturation and notifies RN of abnormal results.
• Draws intravenous or capillary blood and performs venipuncture for lab tests.
• Performs EKG as directed and assists with transport and basic patient care.
• Ensures equipment readiness and maintains safe patient environment.
