Job summary

Advocate Health in Park Ridge is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support licensed RNs in daily patient care tasks, including hygiene, feeding and mobility. You will document vital signs and patient data in the EMR, assist with admissions, transfers and discharges, and help maintain patient comfort and safety throughout shifts.

The role requires BLS certification within 45 days and a Nurse Aide registration in good standing. GED/HSED or high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills required.

• Strong organizational abilities and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Document vitals and data in EMR; monitor I&O, daily weights and patient status.
• Perform rounding and communicate observations to RN; respond to patient/family needs.
• Support admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision; ensure room setup and belongings are handled properly.
• Collect specimens and perform point‑of‑care testing as indicated; label and identify samples.
• Run errands; deliver charts and specimens; stock nursing area; clean equipment and areas.
• Assist with transfers and positioning; support nutritional care and diet tray setup.
• Maintain skin care and use TED hose and compression devices as required.
• Assist with IV removal, post mortem care, and bladder scans as directed.
• Follow infection prevention policies and proper PPE; ensure age‑appropriate care for patients.
• Maintain knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and tailor care to age needs.
