Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a patient care assistant to perform basic hygiene, vital signs, and assist with patient mobility under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

This role requires completion of a nurse aide course or enrollment in an accredited nursing program, with CPR certification within 90 days of hire. Strong communication and patient-centered care skills are essential to support the care team and families in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold a nurse aide course or be in a recognized nursing program.
• Current CNA registry, or relevant medical assisting credentials.
• Must demonstrate basic patient care skills and ability to use department equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic hygiene care, vital signs, and range of motion under RN supervision.
• Act as patient advocate, communicate with patients, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Monitor patient status and assist nursing staff with changes in condition.
• Record activities and care provided in patient records per unit standards.
• Maintain sanitation, infection control, and equipment safety; report any deficiencies.
