Job summary

Parkland Health on the Dallas campus is seeking a patient care assistant to provide basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, supporting patient-centered care and the nursing team on the 3rd floor.

The role requires completion of an approved nurse aide, medical assistant, or patient care technician program and CPR certification within 90 days of hire. Commitment to safety, compassion, and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold one of the listed nursing/medical assistant programs.
• Must be CPR certified (Heartsaver) within 90 days of hire/place in job.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic hygiene care, vital signs, ROM, and other specified patient care activities under RN direction.
• Acts as patient advocate, maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
• Monitors patient status and communicates changes to the health team.
• Records activities and patient data in accordance with unit standards.
• Maintains sanitation, safety, and equipment, and reports deficiencies.
• Escorts patients, provides translation services when applicable, and supports nursing workflow.
• Identifies process improvements and supports department goals.
• Pursues ongoing education and adheres to applicable laws and accreditation requirements.
