Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a patient care assistant to support RNs in daily patient care, including bathing, feeding, and mobility. You will measure vital signs, document data in EMR, and help with admissions, transfers, and discharges.

The role requires basic certifications and a focus on safety and infection prevention. No prior experience is required; a GED or high school diploma is accepted with a current BLS and state Nurse Aide registration.

Qualifications

• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers within 45 days.
• Nurse Aide in good standing with the State Registry.
• GED or high school equivalency or high school diploma.
• Experience: None required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measure and document blood pressures, vital signs, I&O, daily weights; record in EMR.
• Perform rounding and communicate observations to RN; document as needed.
• Assist in admission, transfer and discharge; set up room and manage belongings.
• Collect urine, stool, sputum specimens; perform point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Run errands; stock nursing area; clean equipment and work areas.
• Assist with patient positioning, transferring, nutrition and diet as directed by RN.
• Maintain skin integrity; manage TED hose and sequential compression devices.
• May remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans as directed.
• Follow infection prevention policies; proper hand hygiene and PPE.
• Provide age-appropriate care and assess patient needs as age-specific guidelines require.
