Job summary

Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC, is seeking a Patient Access representative to greet families, register patients, verify insurance, and support scheduling in a fast-paced environment.

Based in Washington, DC, you will liaise with patients, families, and clinical staff, ensuring accurate demographic data, coordinating appointments, and helping onboarding as a frontline ambassador for care.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Minimum Work Experience: 2 years Related experience (Required).
• Broad knowledge in administrative processes, customer service skills.
• Computer knowledge necessary. Microsoft Office experience preferred (Word & Excel).
• The ability to type minimum of 35 words per minute required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accuracy of scheduling patients using the applicable scheduling system for the department.
• Verify applicable charge codes corresponds with diagnostic codes and enter information into billing/registration system.
• Collect accurate demographic and insurance information and complete bedside registration for ED patients.
• Reschedule appointments and book follow-up visits as needed.
• Greet patients and parents courteously and obtain required consents and documentation.
• Respond to patient portal work lists and manage communications as applicable.
