Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri is seeking a Patient Access Representative who is the first point of contact for patients, ensuring compassionate service and accurate data entry per Mercy Service Standards.

You will handle scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance, while maintaining knowledge of insurance carriers to support a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills both oral and written, with excellent telephone etiquette.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with computer systems; familiarity with 10-key calculator.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, representing Mercy with courtesy and accuracy.
• Assist with scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure accurate patient data entry and up-to-date records for the patient’s Mercy visit.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
